The First Pitch

If there is anything that baseball does it serves as a reminder that we are a part of something bigger and have no control of. In our increasingly materialistic society, baseball demonstrates that there is an intangible possession that is only meant to be enjoyed. When the games get rained out, they make it up to you. Even if you were late to work this morning or had a fight with your wife last night, the game still starts at 7:10. Considering the unpredictablitity and complexty that we call life, we can all take comfort knowing that there is still a game that thrives without our responsibility.

What I have found is that baseball is the only thing that we can rely on. Did Barry Bonds juice his way to 762 jacks? As much as we contimplate the issue, consider how much it actually matters. Sure, there is plenty evidence against him but did he ever achieve the ultimate prize of gold ring glory? Not so much. What about Sammy Sosa and his probably tainted 609 career bombs? He never lifted the Commissioner's Trophy either. Perhaps within the midst of controversy, baseball brings justice.

This blog is dedicated to the only sport that shows us what a player is worth. The only sport that rewards players for their effort rather than their flare. The sport that rewards teams rather than individuals. The sport that reminds us that it is not what is in your head but in your heart. The sport where your jersey is the only color that matters. This, ladies and gentleman...is baseball.
